Orange Bowl Exploits Dolphins for a Football Game

The Capital One Orange Bowl is an annual college football game in Miami that continues to promote the Miami Seaquarium by having a dolphin „choose“ the game’s winner. If given the chance, dolphins would choose freedom, and when it comes to the Miami Seaquarium, there are only losers.

For more than 46 years, the park has confined an orca name Lolita—aka „the World’s Loneliest Orca“—to what is currently the smallest and oldest orca tank in the U.S. She was abducted from her family in the wild when she was about 4 years old and hasn’t seen another orca since 1980, when her tankmate, Hugo, repeatedly rammed his head into the tank wall until he died.
