Victory for bees in Europe! Take action to save U.S. bees!

Victory for bees in Europe!

If you follow us on social media you’ve heard the news: The European Union has banned bee-killing insecticides to protect both wild and commercial honeybees that are vital to crop pollination!

This victory belongs to the millions of people from every E.U. country who pressured decision-makers to heed the warnings of scientists who said that neonicotinoid insecticides, sold by Bayer and Syngenta and used by Monsanto to coat their genetically engineered seeds, are causing the massive die-off of bees.

We need to do the same here in the U.S.!

In the E.U., 5 million people signed a petition started by the campaign group Avaaz. The petition called on E.U. member states to ban the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in order to stop the catastrophic demise of bee colonies, a phenomenon that puts the whole food chain in danger.

“Finally, our governments are listening to their citizens, the scientific evidence and farmers who know that bees can’t live with these chemicals and we can’t live without bees,” said Antonia Staats at Avaaz in reaction to the victory.

Neonicotinoids now join the list of more than 80 pesticides that are banned or tightly restricted in the E.U.—but allowed in the U.S.

It’s time for the U.S. to listen up: Bees can’t live with neonics and we can’t live without bees!

TAKE ACTION! Sign the petition to ban bee-killing neonicotinoid insecticides in the U.S.!
