Animal Experimenters Try to Force Airlines to Transport Monkeys to Their Deaths

They’re so desperate to get monkeys—who are nothing more than lab tools to them—that they’re going to court

A group supported by animal experimenters whose sole purpose is to promote the use of animals in laboratories is trying to force airlines to transport monkeys and other animals to laboratories. Please take action right now at the link below to oppose this.

https://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/animal-experimenters-try-force-airlines-transport-monkeys/

Like humans, monkeys deserve protection from forced participation in violent experiments. Please take action now by leaving polite comments—in defense of airlines’ choice not to contribute to senseless deaths—on this website:

Help Chimpanzees: Hallmark Refuses to Discuss Offensive Cards

PETA

Action Alert

Dear Sylvia,

Did you know that the „smiling“ chimpanzees often displayed on birthday and other greeting cards are actually expressing fear, anxiety, or stress? Their forced grin is known as a „fear grimace“ among primate experts, which makes sense: Eyewitness investigations have revealed that physical abuse of chimpanzees is standard practice in the entertainment industry.

For years, PETA has requested meetings with Hallmark Cards to discuss the use of chimpanzee „actors“ for its greeting cards, but the company has repeatedly refused even to talk about the issue with us.

Please contact Hallmark Cards and politely ask it to stop selling greeting cards that feature chimpanzee „actors.“ Let the company know that these cards are disturbing and offensive—not amusing.

Tell Hallmark Cards to Stop Exploiting Chimpanzees!

Please forward this message to friends, family members, and coworkers.

Thank you for everything that you do to help animals.

Sincerely,

Why Is a University Imprisoning Baboons?

PETA

Action Alert

Tell the University of Oklahoma to send the remaining
baboons to a sanctuary!

http://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/university-oklahoma-send-imprisoned-baboons-sanctuary/

The University of Oklahoma (OU) has announced that it will be closing its facility that breeds baboons for use in cruel and deadly experiments. However, the fate of the hundreds of baboons still imprisoned at the facility remains unclear.
OU has a long history of cruel and negligent treatment of animals in its laboratories, including baboons at the school’s breeding facility. Between 2013 and 2015, at least 51 baboons, including several infants, died at the facility—very often, according to reports, „in violent, gruesome ways.“

http://newsok.com/article/5452731

Please join PETA in urging OU to send the remaining baboons to a sanctuary, where they can live out the rest of their lives in peace, and also fund their care.

Thank you for speaking up for baboons.

Sincerely,

PETA

ACT NOW: NIH is Wasting a Chance to Create Change for Primates

PETA

Action Alert

Dear SYLVIA,

Following PETA’s successful campaign to shut down the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) experiments on baby monkeys, several forward-thinking members of Congress made it a requirement for NIH to „conduct a review of its ethical policies and processes“ related to the use of nonhuman primates in experiments. In response, NIH announced that it would be organizing a workshop on September 7 for that purpose.

However, a draft of the agency’s workshop agenda has now been published, and it’s quite clear that the event will be dedicated to explaining why experiments on monkeys are necessary and why current oversight practices are good enough to protect the primates involved in experiments.

It’s time for an honest conversation about the suffering of primates in laboratories.

Sincerely,

Have you ever seen a baby bear’s spirit being broken?

Have you ever seen a baby bear’s spirit being broken?

Dear Sylvia,

Why would anyone ever treat an animal like this?

Circus cruelty EXPOSED - Bears

A PETA Asia investigator captured many hours of footage like this at circuses and animal-training centres in China – and nearly every single second of it is hard to stomach.

Baby bears paw helplessly at the bars of the barren metal cages they’re trapped in.

A lion cowers in fear as a trainer approaches brandishing a whip.

A monkey paces wildly in deep distress in the confines of a cage. Another is dragged by a rope around her neck as she struggles frantically to escape, and a trainer even slaps her on the head.

https://secure.peta.org.au/ea-action/action

Please make a donation to PETA right now and help all animals – including those exploited and abused for entertainment!

The suffering these animals endure – and the decrepit conditions they’re forced to live in – is as common as it is terribly cruel. It breaks my heart knowing there are so many bears, monkeys, big cats, and other animals living this way.

Thanks to powerful exposés like this one, PETA and our international affiliates are helping millions of people discover what really happens to frightened and abused animals condemned to perform in circuses around the world. Our campaigns are prompting families to avoid shows that use animals – progress that has abusers worried.

But to keep this kind of vital work going, kind people like you must step in and support our efforts to help the animals who need us the most.

https://secure.peta.org.au/ea-action/action

Will you make a gift to PETA today and strengthen our work for animals? Any amount you can give will make a difference.

You can also help by never attending circuses that use animals and by writing letters to the editors of newspapers and magazines regarding the cruelty of animal circuses. Please also take a moment to visit our website and share information about the abuse of animals in the entertainment industry with family and friends.
